ChickTech is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging more girls and women to pursue technology related careers through hands-on events.

Our program kick-off event will host 100 high school girls from the Raleigh/Durham area in a free-to-participate event on December 2-3 at Meredith College. Each participant will attend one of the many technology related workshops and leave with a take-home item from the workshop. After kick-off, the girls may choose to participate in any (or all) of the next 5 monthly workshops. Food will be provided during the kick-off and all workshops. We also provide, on an as needed basis, transportation to and from events and childcare. More information about the workshops is provided here.

We suggest you nominate students who:

  • Have not participated in a computer science course, technology project, or camp before due to lack of interest and/or financial resources
  • Have never participated in any technology programs before, but would benefit from exposure to hands-on activities, mentoring opportunities and career exposure
  • Typically would not consider a tech career
  • Display an above-average aptitude for math or science, along with a creativity and willingness to learn new things
  • Will be in 9th-12th grade as of November 2017
  • Identify as female

Please nominate up to 20 girls from your school or program (parents please contact your daughter’s teacher/CDC for a nomination) who fall under these suggestions, we’d like at least 50% of your nominations to be on lunch assistance or some sort of financial aid.

Nominations end 11:59PM Friday, October 20, 2017.

Accepted students will receive hand delivered letters at their school by November 1, 2017.
