Data Explorers is a new social impact program with the mission to empower 8th and 9th graders to discover and develop critical data science skills and fluency that enable them to thrive and take action in a data-driven world.

The experience engages students in a learning journey that inspires exploration, investigation and problem-solving with data focusing on one or more social issues relevant in their lives.  These social issues will naturally align with the UN Sustainable Development goals.  We are targeting underserved populations. This is a research project funded by NetApp. The project is a partnership of TERC, NetApp, the Durham ChickTech Program, and Concord Consortium. TERC is a non-profit education research and development company in Cambridge, MA.

Program Eligibility and Requirements:

  • Open to any 8th or 9th grader regardless of gender identity
  • A chromebook or laptop and reliable WIFI connection
  • Students must attend all sessions as it builds to a final project for each student

Details on nominations and program schedule will be updated for 2021 FALL BATCHES by June/July 2021.

ChickTech is a registered 501(c)3.
